Manuscripts, correspondence, movie research materials, artwork and sketches, family memorabilia, photographs, postcards, and historical manuscripts collected by Goodman. The manuscripts include numerous bibliographies compiled by Goodman on the subjects of overland travel, California history, and the American west. The film materials document Goodman's historicist approach to set design, including his involvement in the rebuilding of the downeaster LEWWELLYN J. MORSE into a replica of the USS CONSTITUTION. The correspondence is comprised largely of letters between Goodman and book dealers, libraries, and historical societies regarding his interest in the history of the American west. The historical documents include various materials pertaining to E.O. Crosby; correspondence between members of the Hubon family; and journals of the miner George Sniffen, for the schooner G.H. Montague, of G.A. Munroe's voyage aboard the ship Magnolia in 1848, and of Joseph Wood.
